Grown-ups' Play Guide

For parents, grandparents, teachers and homeschoolers. Every Timblemoon game is free, runs only in your browser, and works best side by side. Here's what each one builds and how to carry it off the screen.

Reading

Grandpa Rusk's Story Sparks

Ages 3–7 · Builds telling a story with a beginning, middle and end; new words

Play together · Let your child choose the who, where and problem, then read the story aloud slowly. Pause before the ending and ask, "What do you think happens next?"

Off-screen · Tell a bedtime story together, taking turns adding one sentence each.

Rhyme Time on the Lane

Ages 4–7 · Builds hearing rhymes and remembering where things are

Play together · Say each word as a card flips and ask, "Does that sound like moon?" Start with the easy set of 6 pairs.

Off-screen · Make up silly rhymes at dinner: cat, hat, bat… how many can you find?

Math

Wattle's Harvest Sort

Ages 3–6 · Builds sorting by kind, color and size; reading a simple graph

Play together · Ask why each item belongs in its basket before placing it. At the graph, count each row out loud before choosing most or fewest.

Off-screen · Sort the laundry, toys or a bowl of fruit, then line them up to see which pile has the most.

Pattern Paths

Ages 4–7 · Builds spotting and continuing patterns

Play together · Read the pattern out loud together in a rhythm ("gold, red, gold, red…"). In "Make your own," let your child build one and you guess.

Off-screen · Make patterns with blocks, spoons, or claps and stomps.

Off-screen · At dinner, each person names one feeling from today and what caused it.
