If you would like yours kept — the way they slept, the trouble they got into, the day they came home — I would be honoured to write and illustrate it as a keepsake picture book for your family. Tell me about them, share a few photos, and we will shape it together into something your children can read for years, and hold onto long after.
Keepsake books start at $295 and take about six to eight weeks — a 24-page custom picture book, delivered as a print-ready file and a digital edition, with printed copies available. I take only a few at a time, so each one gets the attention it deserves.

Small lights, big hearts
Hazel
Girl, seven · the one out in front
Hazel is seven and never far from her lantern. She walks at the front of every procession, sings the loudest at the caroling, and is usually the first to decide what happens next.
Bram
Boy, six · the one with the hat
Bram is six, freckled, and always in a hat a size too big — a pumpkin in autumn, a cranberry beanie once the snow comes. His socks have never matched and never will.
Pip
Tiny bat · the first light
Pip is a very small round bat with ears bigger than the rest of him put together — usually somewhere overhead, always carrying the smallest lantern on the hill.
Puff
Small round ghost · the quiet one
Puff goes everywhere with a nightlight and a patchwork quilt, and notices the things the others miss. On Christmas morning, the box by the door is Puff's.
Soot

Soot is a chunky charcoal cat in a white baker's hat whose kitchen feeds the whole hill — and who learns the hard way that nobody does it alone.

Scarecrow · the storyteller
The hill's storyteller: a kindly scarecrow of burlap and straw with a stitched smile, a worn storybook under one arm, and a small red-breasted bird on his shoulder.
Wattle
Upright turkey · harvest
An upright turkey with a grand fan of tail feathers, a knitted cap with an acorn in the brim, and a basket that is somehow always full of acorns.
Plum
Harvest-table girl
Plum arrives with a golden lattice pie in both hands and a sprig of wheat in her apron pocket. She belongs to the harvest table and the autumn books.
