Book 03 · Christmas in Timblemoon
A Timblemoon story by Wilma Nix
Snow on the lanes, bells on the lanterns, and one red sled at the top of the hill — until Bram decides that the best gift in Timblemoon is the one he hands to somebody else.
The story, beat by beat
Timblemoon wakes up under deep snow. Garlands go up along Lantern Lane, every lantern gets a red bow, and Pip flies over the rooftops with a little brass bell ringing in his paws.
Bram's present is the shiniest thing on the hill: a bright red sled. He pulls it up the lane in his knitted hat, sure that this is the best Christmas Timblemoon has ever had.
At the top of the hill everyone is sledging except one small friend with nothing to ride and no one to ride with. Bram sees it, and the shine goes out of his morning.
So Bram gives the sled away — and then climbs on the back with Puff in his green bobble hat, both of them laughing all the way down through the snow.
The whole village gathers at the Long Hall with lanterns, a tree and the chant — and Bram learns that a gift given away comes back bigger than it went.
"Timblemoon, Timblemoon, up the hill and up with the moon! Lift your light, however small, Timblemoon has room for all."
